Overview:

Most spiritually-inclined people are familiar with the basic purpose and benefits of mindfulness and meditation practices, but many of us have settled on one or two familiar practices that we’ve come to lean on or rely on for comfort.  In the same way that everything looks like a nail when the only tool you have is a hammer, so to do all situations and scenarios appear the same if you have only one mode of meditation available to you.

In this talk we will dive into a series of mindfulness and meditation practices that are each geared towards a specific purpose. These include mindfulness meditation, contemplative meditation, absorptive meditation, heart-centered meditation, and several more; with the central theme of ‘paying attention to your life’ as the highest form of meditation available – the one that ultimately collapses all of our illusory notions about who and what we are.

When: Saturday, 6 May 2017 @ 7PM

Where: The CommUnity Center 729 @ 729 Thornton Ave. in Orlando Florida.

Registration: Not required, but can be done via this Meetup event.

Cost: Free, but donations are accepted and appreciated.

Take some time this week to sit with the question ‘who am I?’ and explore this question from the perspective of awareness; watching closely as the mind responds to this question with answers – dismissing them all.  Take this same process of inner investigation into your outer world and watch closely, from the perspective of awareness, the coming and going of all phenomenal experience – including people, places, things, thoughts, ideas, feelings, emotions, concepts, and beliefs – all of it.  Practice being this awareness, rather than the coming and going, and see what life has to teach you about who it is that you ‘think’ you are.
