You are not one step away from it. Not one step away from who you are. Not one step away from who you have always been. How far is the sky from the sky? How far is the sun from the sun? How far is awakeness from awakeness? There is no distance.
Of course you might say ‘but there is suffering and I want it to end’, but this is none other than awakeness awake to the experience of suffering. Therein lies the subtle shift that alludes the seeking self. It is trying to escape suffering because it is identified with a suffering self.
Can the suffering self escape the suffering self, or does that just create more suffering? What does your own experience tell you? What if the answer is to relax the tension that we bring to our own suffering, and begin to look at it from the position of our awakeness instead?
That you are *awake* to your suffering, *aware* of its *presence*. These are all clues! That you are *awake* to your desire to escape – that’s it. What do you think would happen if you knew yourself to be awakeness itself, rather than the dream of the imaginary suffering self?
Suffering would no longer have a hold over you. Even if suffering were present you would just acknowledge your own awakeness to it. It is in the power of acknowledging our awakeness that everything begins to dissolve. Even our notion of separateness begins to fall away.
What is left but the awakeness, awareness, and aliveness of life itself? This is what you are and have always been: awakeness, awareness, aliveness. You are not one step away from it. Not one step away from who you are. Not one step away from who you have always been.
I love you, Namaste, God Bless, and take care.
